"Orpheus" made by ROKR and sold by ROBOTIME is an incredible wood craft kit.

I just finished building this with the help of my 8 year old son. We spent a couple of hours over two days, him punching out the pieces and lining them up (and reading off the tiny part numbers from the instruction sheet for me) and I glued and assembled it. The finished product is staggering. A timeless masterpiece. The laser cuts are as perfect as I had hoped. Fitment was 100% spot on for every single piece. I am very impressed with this product! The instructions, while the text is small, were complete and well written and illustrated, every detail is covered, including what to glue.

The included glue is similar to elmers white glue, which takes a bit to dry. It seemed that using this glue would require some waiting at points during assembly so we used very tiny dots of super glue instead to speed assembly. I think this was the way to go, but be aware that there is no adjusting misaligned pieces if you go this route. You must be extremely precise and sparing if you dont want the super glue squishing out of the seams.

The instructions show what pieces to glue, there are not many indicated, but we decided to glue every non moving part for durability, as it was obvious that without glue some of the parts were not going to stay put. You will need to assess this as you go and glue more than the instructions call for.

A small piece of sandpaper was included but none of the pieces needed sanding. Every piece popped out cleanly and without burs or anomaly.

The light component will need 2 button cell batteries. The instructions say that they are included but were not with our set. We needed two LR44 cells. We needed to bend the wires going to the LED to position it more in the center of the internal cavity as it was biased to one side the way it came.

The music box sounds great and seems very well made, the song is perfect for this robot.

A rod from the music box goes up through the top to turn the gears and propeller in the dome, which is probably the coolest part of the robot. It is lighted internally, has a wind up music box, turning gears, a dome head, tons of details, what more could you ask for. This is an amazing deal at the current price of $26 and truly it is worth so much more.

This kit has a small number of reviews which imply to me that it is little known. Well if you are looking for a cool wood craft kit that will put a smile on your face this is it! There is not a single thing that could be improved about it. Perfection!

I bought this for my 12 year old who was recently diagnosed with ADHD. It came recommended from an ADHD website I frequent. He sat for 4.5 hours today to do this while his dad helped! It was amazing, he was focused and he didn't become frustrated and quit. I am very pleased. I will be purchasing the others for him!

I bought this for my 11 year old daughter. She cried when my wife gave it to her, she was so excited! She put it together, all by herself in just a few hours. I wish I had read the description better. I didn't realize it didn't come with the necessary batteries. (Batteries: 2 LR44 / 357 / 303 button cell batteries (for the LED)) This was a great purchase, we'll be buying more like it for sure.

Cute robot with nice music box, but issues with materials

Overall I am happy with this music box. But there was a problem: there are two sheets of wood, each for doing a leg and an arm, one of the sheets was thin and should have been thick. So one of the arms and one of the legs didn't go together quite right. I took off two stars for that and also for the fact that it is not clear what pieces should be glued. I glued some pieces on the arms that were not supposed to be glued, as there needs to be rotation. Luckily running the pieces in warm water loosened up the glue so I could fix the problem.

Nice product but missing critical parts for the LED light

Got this puzzle as a Christmas gift for my Dad to do while stuck in the house this winter. Received it with the parts for the led light missing. Immediately reordered another one as a replacement and it also was missing the same parts for the led light. He said that it looks like a very nice product and is looking forward to putting it together but it will be a disappointment that it will have the led light working to complete it as advertised. Robotime has been very responsive with offering to ship another replacement but what guarantee will there be that all of the parts for the led light won't be missing from the third kit. I would like to order some of the other Robotime 3D puzzles but am concerned that those too will also be missing parts. It is so critical to have the proper quality control and package products without missing parts or non-working parts to give the customer the full satisfaction they deserve.

Seymour the ROBOTIME 3D Music Box is a delight. I put together another one already called Orpheus Sad Musical Machine. I enjoyed putting that one together so much that I decided to order this one!
"Seymour" comes with the precut pieces, music box, 3 screws to secure the music device to the wooden part, metal disc(?) to help the lil fan spin, 1 tweezers, 1 screwdriver, 1 tube of glue, 120mm aluminum wire,3 split rings, and 2 lil bells.

Didn't have trouble putting it together but I can see a child of say 7 years old having issues. So its most certainly made for somebody who knows what they are doing and don't have trouble reading instructions. While yes the pieces are laser cut. Doesn't mean it will automatically fit together. You have to use the little sand paper that comes with it to sand some of the pieces until it fits. I say that's probably the only con I can think of. This lil guy took A LOT of sanding more than Orpheus did. I damn near wore out that little sand paper. Some people may have trouble with the little dog ears. They wouldn't stay on, a little movement and they will fall out. I tried using the glue that comes with the kit. But didn't work so well when it came to the ears. So I just used a hot glue gun and now they stay put. Ooh yeah the some of the pieces have outlines to were some of the pieces should go. There is also little detail on the wooden pieces to make it look 'mechanical" looking. I just wish there was a bit more detail on them. I added some with a wooden burning tool.

This wooden music box was extremely fun to put together.

I absolutely love puzzles and music is a huge part of my life, so when I first found out about this product, I just HAD to buy it!

The pieces come on flat pieces of wood and are easily taken out with a simple push. Sometimes little splinters may come with it, but you can use the piece of sandpaper that came with it to simply buff it off!

The glue dries super quickly, so you don't have to wait around forever for it to dry!

The instructions were so simple to follow!

It took me about 5-6 hours to build it all, and that's with watching some shows on Netflix.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and would love to buy another one!
