Sweet keychain knife!

Review of SOG Keytron keychain knife. Had this knife for a week, tested it and really am impressed. It came shaving sharp, the blade centering is dead on and the keyring is better than I hoped. Fit and finish is good apart from some rough grinds like inside the cut out section of the blade. Keyring really seems robust to me for a twenty dollar knife. Small pin near base of keyring slides to release keyring similar to an axis lock on Benchmade. The beer cap lifter works well but it is also the lock release for the blade. The lock seems robust and snaps into place but after opening hundreds of beers will it hold up? Only time will tell. Four stars would have loved better steel like AUS 8 and cap lifter on lock release could be damage through use. Overall happy with purchase and would recommend for 20 dollar option. Not the best keychain but OK knife

Way too large for a keychain knife in my taste and the lock opens too easy - I've had it for only A few days when I accidnelty found it laying on the floor by my feet. The knife itself however is very decent all things considered. Just needs to be smaller and the keychain ring must lock better.

I like to travel light, so was on the hunt for a small/light tool that I could have with me at all times. This fit the bill.

The locking ring is easy enough to remove before heading to the airport, but secure enough not to fall off or pull apart.

The blade is very sharp, and still sharp after nearly a year of light use (TBH, mostly breaking down amazon boxes 😂). The blade is very short- not really suited for 'tactical' use without risking cutting yourself, but would be good enough in a pinch I presume.

The bottle opener is a little tricky due to how narrow it is, but works with some practice.

Build quality is solid. No rust. Buying a 2nd one for the other set of keys!

Update (11APR2019): The 2nd blade has arrived, and comparing them, the old unit looks as good as the brand new one! That speaks to the good durability and hardness of this thing - after taking the daily abuse of being on my keychain.

I had one of the other SOG key-chain knives for years and loved it. (the small one that tries to look like a key.) TSA finally took it from me. I flew with it like 25 times, then the 26th time, they decided it was too big of a threat.

Anyway, my only complaint with that one was that the blade was pretty narrow, and wasnt suitable for heavy usage/light prying. I picked up this version because of the more stout blade, Bottle opener, and the built in keychain clip.

The knife isn't quite as compact as the small key one, but its sturdier, has more features, and is still reasonable for a keychain.

Only possible drawbacks I see are that the hinge screw seems to loosen a bit on its own, and TSA will probably snag this one a lot more easily than the fake key variety.

Other than that its a great knife thats with you all the time. Love it. SOG has great quality small blades for stupid cheap.

Awesome EDC knife!

Very pleased with this SOG EDC knife. I wanted a keychain knife that is actually capable of real work! The folding knife blade is less than 2" which works for my EDC gear system. I use it everyday for cutting boxes and packages. Easy to resharpen and I like that it has a lock back so the blade is secure when open. I like being able to carry the Keytron to save the blade on my actual EDC knives.

Good for a couple keys

Three stars for coolness, but it loses two for limited functionality. Since the body of the knife occupies about 25% of the ring, having more than one or two keys leaves keys sticking out at awkward angles when hanging from a lock or ignition. I wish this was better with a few more keys.

Good knife for small package

I like this keychain knife over others, because it has a quick release to take off the other keys if needed. In one way it is good that this is a bit tough to work, so keys don't fall off, but it's also a little bit of a hassle and the only reason I give it 4 instead of 5. It is still better than many keychain knives of the same size that would attach to an existing key ring.

Best little knife for a keychain. The bottle opener is a pleasant extra. Love the secure ring that allows for quick removal from my key ring but always remains securely locked to the ring otherwise. Best price. Good quality. You will best more than please.

Great little knife! It seems every detail about this knife was well thought out. It's the perfect size to add on to your keychain, which is made really easy by the quick-release key ring. The blade size and overall weight make it perfect for small everyday tasks. The knife release is a little tricky to depress one-handed but it makes up for that by doubling as a bottle opener. Not to mention, the blade comes razor sharp right out of the box! All this for a reasonable price, I'm definitely happy with this purchase.
