Keep your buns warm!
by Andrew Peacock (5 out of 5 stars)

I ended up taking a vacation to Japan before the seat arrived and just returned. After using a bunch of electric toilet seats in Japan I had high expectation. One thing I have to say about this toilet seat is that I'm really impressed by how easy it was to install, it took me about 15 minutes total and I had no issues.

The seat is very comfortable and warms up really well (5/5). I really enjoyed the heated water it changes your experience if you've ever used a non heated bidet, even my girlfriend enjoyed using it; before she hated the cold sensation now that it was heated she said it was quite pleasant. I would recommend anyone that is interested in getting a bidet to start with this one. Don't cheap out and get the $50 cold bidet, its a difference between riding a tricycle vs driving a car.

Never thought I'd be this excited about a bidet!

This is for the model with the side panel, not remote.

For one, the installation was a piece of cake. Had this bad boy installed in 10 minutes tops.

This magical seat of wonder blows my previous one away. That was a great starter bidet but this one has me dreading pooping anywhere but at home.

I'm not sure if it has an always on feature but I have small children so I turn it off when I'm done. Either way I live that it remembers the last settings I had when I do turn it on. That means it starts to warm the water right away which makes for a pleasant cleaning experience.

I was very doubtful at the deodorizer. I figured it was one of those features that they just have to say is there. But honestly, it works! I don't smell a thing. What a wonderful feature.

The sprayer has 2 modes: spray and soft. They are both great, soft is softer but still gets the job done! And the oscillating mode is great and helps to clean even better.

There's a dryer but the power is lacking so I don't use it, which is fine. The goal is to do better than smearing poop around with TP, and this cleans it right up in a very comfortable way.

It has all the bells and whistles I need and I'm extremely happy with it.

Great bidet

Carbon filter fan sucks up all bad smells, auto open seat is nice. Soft spray is more fanned out, regular back spray is more pin pointed. Unlimited hot water, even with the -40°F the other day. Seat heat is even and gets hot on the highest setting. Blow drier works good, takes 15 sec or so for the air to get hot, if you sit and let it go a couple minutes it will dry you, if not you can let it go for a bit and use a tiny bit of TP to pat dry. Drier is fairly quiet, fart fan is quiet, bidet is quiet. You can tell it is all quality. I have a cheaper one in my spare bathroom and everything is louder and the spray is definitely less pleasant. Should have bought this one for the spare bathroom instead of the inus.

Bathroom Experience Level: 9000

The toilet seat installation was very simple. Directions were clear. The only thing I struggled with was the rubber grommets that had to be pushed through the toilet seat. I know that these aren't unique to this toilet seat, I was just surprised at how much force they took to install.

Once that was done, the rest of it was easy. The plumbing parts supplied hook right up to the bottom of the tank, so you don't have to worry about what kind of fitting you have at the wall. There is a water filter, which I didn't even realize when I ordered it, so that's a plus.

The remote is a great feature because I can keep the controls away from the "action". In other words, I wouldn't want to use the one that's next to the toilet, although I'm glad it's there just in case. My only complaint about the remote is that you have to point it AT the side panel. If I'm sitting there and it's pointing away from me (and thus, away from the toilet), the IR won't send the signal. If it's in the holder on the wall and pointed up, somehow that works. Really, I don't need to hold it in my hand.

The illumination is nice and bright BUT if only turns on if the seat is up as well. I thought it would just always be on as like a night light type of thing, but it's apparently just there to help men in the middle of the night.

The open/close button on the remote is also for the seat, not the lid. Basically, I don't want to use this with the seat up because that can lead to a gross panel and other nooks and crannies I just don't want to clean. To me, this is a sit down toilet only.

That being said, this toilet is VERY effective at all the sit-down business. The deodorizer is 100% effective. Literally 100%. I was completely shocked by that. But it's great because I don't have one of those toilets that's in a little closet that seems to be popular these days. It's just part of the main bathroom, which is attached to the bedroom, but now I don't have to worry about stinking up the entire place. 100% effective.

The spray part of it is also great and effective. I've used a few products like this in the past and wasn't that impressed, but this one really does an excellent job. No supplemental cleaning required. The water (and seat for that matter) are always warm, even when I first turned it on.

The manual for the product is thick and it's all in English, so I still have some more reading to do!

Overall I would give this a 4.6, but I have to round up because Amazon.

Not much better than wet wipes
by Kindle Customer (3 out of 5 stars)
June 5, 2019

I originally purchased this for my elderly grandparents that are visiting for the summer. They have a similar system in their home though it is just a sink type handle on a hose. Systems like these are very common in Europe and Asia and I just wanted them to be comfortable. My high expectation for this washlet, due to several irritating factors, have fallen.

Installation: Upon removal from the box, everything looked new and clean but when I flipped it over, I noticed some little gross brown spots on the bottom. I don't mind using a returned system but I think the least they could have done is to disinfect it before sending it back out as a new item. Next, the rubber plugs with screw inserts needed for installation would not fit in the seat mounting holes of my toilet. The metal screw part was simply a bit too wide. I even tried putting a bit of WD-40 on the rubber part but without drilling the hole out wider in my toilet it simply was not going to work. I got around this by mounting the treaded insert upside down on the bottom. The screw was long enough to allow this to work. The fit is not as secure but from my daily tests from the past month it seems to work fine. The seat has not moved even an inch.

Actual Use: This will vary for most people. It took me a few events to fully figure out what settings and positions worked for me. Even after proper calibration I feel that this is no better than wet wipes and TP. In fact, I am using nearly the same amount of TP because even at the settings that work best for me it is not perfect. But my parents really like it after I explained the remote to them several times. Unfortunately, my octogenarian grandparents think it is simply too complicated and even though you only need two buttons to operate it I just got tired of re-explaining it to them. However, they are extremely old so I don't blame the washlet for being too complex. Basically, it does not have a steep learning curve but you will most likely have to explain it to guests.

Otherwise, the hot water is indeed constant and can get very hot if you prefer. The heated seat, even in summer, is amazing, and the deodorizer (if you can make a good seal) does really seem to work. Plus, for me, it has more than enough water pressure. If you are a man you may need to readjust the way you sit, since the front of the seat is almost flush with the toilet rim and the ice-cold porcelain will touch your bits if you just plop down. But that is a mistake that will only be made once and you'll learn from it.

Durability: The remote is not waterproof, and it has large gaps around the buttons, which seems like a ridiculous oversight considering its location and intent. I know you will never touch it with dirty hands but still I would have occasionally liked to spray it with my usual foaming bleach spray just for peace of mind. Furthermore, none of the components on the underside of the seat or the panel on the side have tight seals. I have already had an issue with splash back hitting a crevice on the underside of the seat that I don't think will ever be perfectly clean, even though I really tried. Finally, the manual states to use watered down dish detergent to clean everything, which again seems absurd given its location and design use. I tried to use my foaming bleach spray but it left stubborn dusty white streaks so now I am using an anti-bacterial countertop cleaner that seems to work fine. I really wish the material they used to make this with could tolerate the typical bleach based toilet cleaners.

Additionally, when the lid opens it slams as hard as it can into my toilet tank making a deafening gong like ring that resonates through my bones and sets off all the dogs in the neighborhood. I put a small rubber bump stop (the type used for cabinet doors) on the lid to prevent this but I don't know how long the lifting mechanism will survive such abuse.

Conveniences: I wish the night light could be left always on but it only activates when the seat is up. The motion sensor is garbage and irritating. I have the distance maxed out and am trying to use it as described in the manual but it still doesn't work all the time. Also, even with the delay turned off, it takes way too long to actually sense that I am there and lift the lid. I typically have to wave my hand in front of the sensor and then wait about two seconds before it finally lifts the lid up. Finally, it is on a 20 second timer that auto closes the lid and it cannot be turned off. This is very frustrating for me as a man, when I go in the mornings (during the longest standing event) and have the seat try and close on me while in the middle of business. If you are not fast enough to catch it as it is closing it could really be a gas station bathroom disaster.

The manual does not offer enough information about replacement parts or complementary products. The remote has a flush button but I do not know what qualifies as a complementary auto-flush device. Furthermore, I am slowly upgrading my bathroom and would like a complementary toilet. Most of the established brands (TOTO) make their own or at least let you know which brand to get but not Pacific Bay. Finally, I don't know the deal with the deodorizer. Can be washed out or does it need to be replaced? The water filter has a section on back flushing so it may be re-usable but even its plastic housing will eventually fail. The threads on it may survive two or three back flushing events before it will have to be replaced. Does Pacific Bay not want more of my money?

Conclusion: The auto open/close is more of a nuisance than a convenience and it is on a path of self-destruction. There is limited to no information on replacements and complementary products. Finally, at least for me, it did not fully deliver on the perfect hygiene TP less dream.

Be patient.. it will open

We love our new bidet. The hygiene is superb. The only thing is, for women, the commode seat opens slowly. When I go to the bathroom, I usually have to go quickly. Now, i just tell myself "be patient...it will open!". It does open, but it is slow.

I am pleased with this toilet seat

I am pleased with this product which offers all features it has promised. It is easy to install the toilet seat for itself, but the difficulty is to setup a power outlet for the toilet seat because there was none in the toilet room before. Fortunately on the other side of the wall that I intended to make a power outlet, there is a power outlet, from which I can wire in the power line acrossing the wall. Some instructions provided by vedeos from U-Tube are very helpful for setting up the new power outlet without taking off large pieces of rock sheet of the wall. I am now happy with this toilet seat which provides satisfying service to my family every day.

The stone age is over
by Zmunk (4 out of 5 stars)

This seat changed my life. I feel nothing but contempt when I have to scrape paper against my butt now. The heat feature is brilliant and the spray options are wonderful. I wish the blow dryer was a bit more powerful and the motion detector isn't perfect to open the seat. I think there are probably nicer models, but I'm not fussed. Now that I know what I was missing in the world of bathroom sanitation, I have no regrets.
