OK, let me start with the surprise benefit for dads with young kids. If your kids are like mine, they sometimes crawl into bed at night to cuddle with mom. Well, after they fall asleep, they forget about mom and migrate over to the human hot rock (aka dad) to stay warm. One kid likes to lay on top of me, another likes to stick his cold hands and feet under my back to stay warm, and they both kick the covers off of both of us. Well, I observed something interesting when I started using the ChiliPad...my kids stopped using me as a hot rock. The ChiliPad makes my side of the bed cold, effectively creating a toddler force field that keeps them on mon's side. Well worth the price just for that!

As for my sleep, the ChiliPad is very easy to use and does exactly as described. It only takes a few minutes to cool my side down and I'm not waking up overheated. Set up was simple and I don't feel the pad at all. It does a good job keeping my side cool without affecting my wife's side. It makes some noise but we already sleep with a fan on so we don't hear it. I have definitely seen an improvement in my sleep and have recommended it to a few friends.

The only negative, considering the price, is the minimal control. I found that I initially fall asleep best at a low temp but would wake up cold around 2 am, so I keep it a few degrees warmer now. Chilipad lets you set one temperature for the entire night but does not have something as simple as a "cool only" or "heat only" mode (at least that I could find) that would allow me to cool my bed to say 58 before bed, set it to 64 when I lay down, and then let my body warm it up slowly to 64. Instead, the unit's heat kicks on and immediately warms it to 64. An adjustable timer would also be nice to turn it off about an hour before waking when the body is naturally warming up. Again, the control issue is pretty minor but I think it is reasonable to expect a bit more at this price.

Keeps me cool. Wish it was quieter

I get pretty hot at night, and setting the AC for 64 F is expensive. The Chilipad has been the darling of biohackers lately; so I finally broke down and gave it a shot. I bought the Twin XL because we have a standard king bed, but my wife didn't want it on her side (Twin XL is exactly half of a standard king).

The pros:
- super easy to set up.One person can set it up in 5-10 min
- keeps you cool. (I haven't tried the heating, and probably never will).
- it's comfortable. I really don't feel the tubes under me unless I feel for them.

Cons
- The fans are pretty loud. Might a tad less loud than a cheap box fan. I hope the 3.0 will reengineer the fans to be quieter.
- It ain't cheap
- ya gotta maintain it. Every 2-3 weeks you need to top off the distilled water in the reservoir. Not a big deal, but it's another task.

Over all, I am very pleased with it. I don't get too hot anymore, which is exactly what I wanted out of the Chilipad.

Hot flashes at night NO MORE! Yippeeee!!!

I am at that fun age and started waking at night due to hot flashes. I discovered the chilly pad and ordered one ASAP Took me three nights to dial in my personal sleeping temperature 77F. on chilly evenings I preheat the bed and climb in, drop the temp 30 minutes before lights out and voila, I have slept soundly every since!

I highly recommend this product!

Since then, I've consitently slept much better. I should've bought this years ago, when I first heard about it from Tim Ferriss.

A few critiques:
* I'd love if it could go cooler, or if the unit was more powerful. Setting it to the lowest setting of 55°F is a super comfy temperature, but it needs a solid hour of cooling off on its own with a blanket over it to reach that temperature, and it hovers around 65° when I'm laying on it.
* The 10 hour timer is annoying. I have to remember to shut it off and back on again right before I go to bed (because I start it about an hour before to cool off). I'd love an easy way to schedule it to go on and off automatically, or just adjust the timer.
* Running out of water caught me off guard. I woke up at 4am a few nights ago with a very not chilly bed, and had to figure out how to top it off with DI water in the dark. I'd love a bigger reservoir with a clear panel so I could see how full it is from the outside.

That said, it's totally worth maintaining it. On nights it hasn't worked at 100% because of not enough lead time to get chilly or running out of water, I've slept considerably worse.

I love Chilipad. This is my 2nd one. The first one lasted for about 6 years I think. I use it every single night and some days to take naps. Without it, I get impossibly hot! It has been a life saver! I highly recommend getting one if you are a hot sleeper!

Have been suffering with numerous hot flashes and night sweats and was barely sleeping 4 hours a night. I bought this product as a last ditch effort before talking to my doctor about hormone replacement therapy, which I really didn't want to go on. I slept like a baby the first night! I am back to sleeping under covers and I have not had one hot flash. I now can't wait to go to bed because it is my cool, happy place. The absolute lack of night sweats while laying on this pad is worth the money.

Got this for my wife for Xmas. I sleep in thermal underwear while she's sweating...

She set it up herself and said it was easy. She did have to go back a day later and add a tiny bit of water (I guess some bubbles worked out) but other than that setup was easy.

This thing is great. The coldest setting is way too cold for her, so thing thing should work for anyone.

My wife has a medical condition where temperature regulation takes a lot of energy. With this, she's less tired in the morning.

This chilli pad is a blessing for me. For years I have struggled trying to sleep at night because I get so hot. I trash around, toss and turn because I can't get cool enough to sleep. This chilli pad has made such a difference for me. It helps me cool down and I now can sleep at night. I would not want to be without it.

I purchased the ChilliPad to help me sleep cooler. And to hopefully be able to not need to run the AC as much when sleeping. The ChilliPad definitely cools. So much so, sometimes I wake up too cold. Thanks to the remote it is easy to change the temperature and go back to sleep.

On occasion I am cold when I go to bed. I can adjust the temp to warm me up. The pad has a range of 55 to 110 degrees. So, if you want something to keep you warm all night you can use it for that too.

I do wish it was programmable. It is not. I wake up when I need to adjust the temp and then do so with the remote.

If you are a light sleeper you will need earplugs. The cube that pumps the water is a little loud when it is warming up or cooling off the mat. Otherwise it has a steady low hum when maintaining the current temp.

I heard about this product from a couple friends a few weeks ago. I run super hot when I sleep and often wake up sweating and it's miserable. Since getting the Chili Pad I have been having the best and deepest sleep of my life. Total life saver this thing - I have not woken up hot or sweating once. My only wish was that the fan/motor in the cooling unit was a little quieter only because sometimes my wife has a little trouble getting to sleep over it, but overall we've been making it work. Love this product.
