I really couldn't get over the metallic taste of these straws. I also have sensitive teeth and stainless steel straws are just too hard and cold (when used in an iced beverage) to be practical for me personally. The sensitivity is why I use straws in the first place.

I also would be hesitant to use these for small children, unless they are seated at the table. I can imagine that the straw could do a lot of damage to the teeth and soft palate of a child who fell while using it. One of my kids was extremely accident prone when little (tripped over lint) so I am slightly paranoid about things that kids can hurt themselves on.

On the good side, the cleaning brushes do a good job. They don't reach the whole way but I just cleaned the straws with the brush from each end, which wasn't a problem.

I originally bought these so I wouldn't have to use plastic disposable straws, which are not only bad for the environment but could possibly be bad for our health as well. First of all, these didn't look as pictured. Mine have tiny ridges on one end and one larger ridge on the other end. When I bought these, the picture displayed straws that looked like smooth metal tubes. It also seemed sketchy that they arrived in a clear plastic bag with no other packaging. I only bring this up because other people had stated that theirs looked like the metal tubes used in certain machinery or computers or something? I don't know enough about either to comment on whether or not that could be true. If it is true then it would follow that they may not be "food grade" stainless steel.

I was searching on Amazon for drinking straws and these came up. I had never heard of stainless steel straws, but the idea of them fascinated me. I purchased these straws and also a set of stainless steel frozen drink straws which are about twice as wide in diameter as these straws. Ever since these straws arrived, my husband and I have been using them constantly. This particular type of straw is good for regular liquids, and the frozen drink straws are good for shakes and smoothies.

I love the way these straws feel in my hand and on the tongue. It's light years more pleasant than plastic, like going to expensive cutlery after using cheap, plastic forks and spoons.

I rinse out these straws with hot water immediately after use and soak them in a dishpan with hot, sudsy water. I also bought a special brush to use for cleaning the straws, but so far I haven't felt like I needed to use it since I never let these straws sit around dirty. My perspective is this: since you can't see inside them, how would you know that you truly got them clean if you let food get crusted inside them?

I highly recommend these straws for anyone who enjoys a classy product that also helps lessen the ever-growing load of plastic cluttering our environment.

I bought these stainless steel straws mainly for one of my grandsons who has a habit of chewing on straws. I cleared the idea of this purchase with his father first to get his opinion, I didn't want to take the chance of being responsible of a possible chipped tooth. I thought the bent ones would be safer for children than the straight straws. These straws have truly been awesome, it has stopped the straw chewing habit. I had such a hard time finding / keeping replacement straws for sipper cups & these straws have been an answer to that delima also. If you try these straws I hope you will be as pleased as we are. This is the second set I've bought, one set for me for my grandchildren to use at my home & the other set I divided (one each) amoung my four young grandsons. Pricey but worth it to me on this product - no more buying of plastic straws.

I was searching on Amazon for thick drinking straws for smoothies and shakes and these came up. I had never heard of stainless steel straws. I was immediately intrigued and bought them right away. They arrived yesterday, and we've been using them constantly ever since. I make smoothies and very thick shakes every day with my Vita-Mix
. We'd always had to use a spoon, because they are too thick to drink sipping by mouth, and they stop up a regular straw. Not so with these wonderful straws.

I love the way these straws feel in my hand and on the tongue. So different from plastic, like going to expensive cutlery after using plastic forks and spoons.

I rinse them out with hot water immediately after use, but I also bought the Brushtech Sports Bottle Straw Washing Brush to use for cleaning the straws, if needed.

I highly recommend these straws for anyone who enjoys a classy product that also helps lessen the ever-growing load of plastic cluttering our environment.

These are so nice! I love that they are 10 1/4" long and flexible. They will be great for cleaning out after smoothies which gunk up my straws. They are stainless steel and dishwasher safe which is a huge plus in our household. We have 3 kids and are trying to replace so much disposable products in our home. You should be able to use these on any type of straw from plastic, silicone, stainless steel, or glass. Go ahead and order the 4 pack because you will not be disappointed.

Good for hot and cold liquid

I bought this to prevent my teeth from staining when I drink hot tea. I worry about BPA and melting of plastic straws in the hot water so I purchased this item. It's also better for the environment. I lost the cleaning tool immediately but I just put the straws in the utensil container of the dishwasher to clean. I also use this for smoothies and haven't had an issue with the drink being too thick for the straw. It has worked fine.

My biggest issue is having to explain why I'm using a steel straw whenever new people see me using it at work.

Just don't forget you're using a steel straw - it can hurt when you hit it against your teeth.

I purchased a set of these straws for my mom in an attempt to stop her habit of having literally hundreds of plastic straws in draws waiting for her to use and throw away several times a day. Not sure if it worked, but I bought myself a set too and absolutely love them. We use them everyday with our smoothies and clean up is a breeze. I just rinse them in warm soapy water and run a pipe cleaner through them and I'm done. We have used them mostly with cold drinks and have not had any problem with the straw getting too cold. They look great and the detail of the rings around the bend makes these straws fantastic. I looked at glass straws as well but I'm too afraid they could chip or break in a glass cup. I think these stainless straws are great and should be added to everyones silverware collection.

Absolutely love the idea of these rather than wasteful plastic straws, but I'm not loving them IRL. Maybe it takes a while to get used to using these, but the mouth feel is really unpleasant. Used for a frozen fruit smoothie, the metal (obviously) gets freezing cold and I couldn't stand the feeling of a mouthful of cold metal tubes, ugh. Also I found them harder to drink through, even with two at a time, and they made the drink taste metallic. I wanted to like them!

A wonderful alternative to plastic...BUT only with the right straw cleaning tool!

My family has used these straws for a little over a year. I love the concept of reusable green products, including these stainless steel straws. This particular product is well made. The straws in our pack were solid pieces without any sharp edges or defects. We use them mainly for smoothies.

TIP: do not buy these without also buying a cleaning tool for strays. I didn't realize how hard they would be to clean without one. After our smoothie remnants dried inside the straws, it was very difficult to get the particles out.
