Delicious purple carrots with a somewhat orange middle.

I planted these in good soil, terrible soil, and they grew wherever they were planted the first year. I'm trying a second year, (2 years after purchasing the seeds,) and I have little doubt that they will sprout.

The seeds do not come with any decent packaging, or instructions, simply a 1-1/2 square inch plastic ziploc bag and a sticker.

The carrots are, however VERY tasty. Sweet in good compost soil, and sweet in nearly sterile soil. I'll be buying these seeds again, although a package of 350 seeds will last a long time since they germinate and sprout so well.

The first batch I planted was sprouted in a pan with water and paper towels over them. The roots got over 2" long before I put them in the soil, yet the carrots all grew. Once in soil, they fattened up and grew in the same condition as the hair fine root I jammed into the soil, most of them curled up, and odd shapes, with a few relatively straight.(MY fault.)

Update ... 2 years later, I planted some of the old seeds again, with no resulting sprouts. Buying another package so we can continue to have these purple carrots in abundance.

No Luck

Ordered the seeds, followed all the directions to the "t" and nothing. Not sure what it is, and it is very difficult for to point the finger at the seeds themselves. I will just report it that they have not even sprouted and I ended up having to purchase the plants, so had to spend double. The other issue, seeds - delivery charges add up, no prime for any of the seeds. I found plants for cheap with shipping included, will just use them. I couldn't wait any longer needed plants for my massive garden.

Seized by Homeland Security

U.S. Department of Agriculture found seeds in violation of the agriculture quarantine regulation pertaining the entry and movement of plants. These seeds from Singapore lacked documentation (phyto-sanitary certificate). The prohibited material (seeds) had been removed and destroyed by Customs. I received only the emptied envelope with (Customs) PPQ Form 287 inside.

I wish these grew....

I want to love these carrots. They're purple, they're strange, they're $10 at Whole foods. However, I tried almost everything to germinate these seeds with no success. I tried planting directly into the ground, I tried seed starting mixes, I tried scarification using sand and water, I tried soaking for an hour.

I planted a row of these and a row of another carrot (bought from a package at the store) and the store-package sprouted like crazy. So I am not sure if the batch I received was off or not.

Maybe its just my garden but they are extremely small carrots really tender with some pretty intense

I planted about half the pack (~175 seeds) in a 3ft x 4ft raised bed garden box. Probably could have planted half that many seeds as I ended up thinning out over half the sprouts and used the tops as parsley. Maybe its just my garden but they are extremely small carrots really tender with some pretty intense decent flavor. I put them in a blender with a handful of green peppers, and about 25 pounds of tomatoes to make a really delicious sauce that I canned up. I've been using the sauce over rice for a really awesome homemade garden dish to get me through the winter.

grows in east tx fall

Seeds arrived on time I planted one seed in a long pot since these guys get six to eight inches long the seed popped up within a week. When it got cooler outside I planted outside in native soil with no additives. The seed is coming up though much much slower than the rich potting soil in the house this may be because the nights have dipped into the 30s. The carrots are still coming up in the native east tx soil. To me this is a good quality product that I plan to purchase again.

I planted a bunch of seeds about 3 weeks ago some outside, some in my greenhouse and in different types of soil unfortunately none sprouted, I really wanted to try these carrots, too bad I'll plant the rest of the seeds and maybe I'll get lucky and one will take hold so I can at least see what it taste like.

Beautiful Color, Meh Taste
by Kelsie J Green (4 out of 5 stars)

I grew these in a raised bed and they germinated just fine, though sporadically. The carrots are a beautiful deep purplish red on the outside (regular orange on the inside and very thin skinned), and I really would grow them again for the color alone. I ate them raw and the taste was merely ok - not bad, but nothing special and not particularly sweet.

None of the seeds germinated. Had no problems with any of the other vegetables I ordered this year, just the carrots. Maybe old?

These seeds are bursting to grow!!!!

I purchased these seeds from BGS Supplies and so far they are BURSTING to grow!!!

My very simple setup so far....styrofoam bottom of an egg carton, potting mix, water

I wanted to germinate these seeds then transfer to a larger plant box after they establish themselves. I planted a seed in 2 corners of each egg compartment for 24 seeds total 1/4-inch deep and keep it well watered. The egg carton is located inside the house on a windowsill.
