Product Description

Sometimes it starts as an innocent mistake, shall we say a case of mistaken identity. You go to make your morning coffee, and your beloved mug is not where it should be. The following week you go to the kitchen and your mug is lying abandoned in the sink with green tea stains all over it - and you don't drink green tea! Before you know it, your mug has been round the office more times that the mail trolley, and has become home to more varieties of beverage stains and lipstick marks than is proper for a decent mug. That's the problem, so how do you fix it? Cellotape the mug to your arm? Superglue the mug to your desk? Quit work start campaigning for awareness relating to mug theft and misuse? These are all worthy ideas, but we appreciate that you don't have that kind of time on your hands (nor want mugs stuck to your hands!). So enter the Plug Mug. A mug, with a hole in it, which renders it completely useless to mug thieves. Just keep the plug safely stowed away from harm (on your key ring or in a vault) and you will find that no-one is interested in stealing your mug anymore.

Features

  • ?Keep the plug key ring secure and no one else can use your mug
  • World's first mug with a hole and plug in it

terrible quality, misshapen plug, near-malicious customer service

The quality of this item is disgraceful. The hole where the plug goes is misshapen, and the plug itself is misshapen as well. It does not seal. Sometimes it won't even stay in. I contacted the seller to exchange this for a well-made one, and was informed that i would have to pay return shipping- to europe- before they would swap it out. Folks, the cost of that return shipping nearly doubles the price of the item itself. The way i was spoken to was condescending and curt, as if they were put off that i didn't just accept a damaged product. This is NOT WORTH THE MONEY. In the end, i kept the one they sent and had a new plug fashioned for it, using a wine cork, some files and a belt sander.

Pretty good

I got this for my mom to take to work as a funny joke so her coworkers wouldn't steal her cup ( something she always complains about). It was a big hit except that it leaks. So do not buy if you really wish to drink a full cup of coffee from it.

A little expensive for a novelty mug

I bought this as a gift for my sister who works in EH&S so it was appropriately funny on more than one level. Otherwise its really just a novelty gift. I wouldnt use this to drink coffee as it would be a pain to clean and I prefer travel mugs anyway since I can spill my coffee without any help from a hole in the cup. So its a $3 mug with a 500% upcharge for a missing hole. Anyway, like I said, its a cool novelty gift but only if you know someone who would appreciate it and not actually try to use it

Undoubtedly the most adorable gag gift

If you're allowed to bring your own mug to work or school, and there is always that certain someone who uses your mug without your permission this is definitely the solution, just watch their face with horror as they pour scalding hot coffee on him or herself.

Ohhhh... I get it!

After looking at the smaller photos, now I understand! You chain the plug to your desk so that if anyone takes your mug they either can't fill it... or whatever you had in it now leaks and spills all over the paperwork on your desk, causing them to get in trouble with the boss!

Or wait, no... surely no one would pull the plug on purpose, just for a laugh. Would they?

No no... wait, now I understand. You keep the plug in your pocket (because you never have enough stuff in your pockets) or desk (because no one would open the drawer an steal it as well) or purse (because you will then be able to find it immediately and easily) and then you can take the plug with you when you go to get the cup.... which well, the janitor probably moved while cleaning off the counter and now you have no idea where it is.

No no no I've still got it wrong. The description talks about "mug thieves". That means people who maliciously walk around swiping mugs because they have nothing better to do than swipe $22 mugs in which they can put their own cork or apply some duct tape and use it anyway, just so they can smile viciously and sardonically when you finally catch them! Boy one could really throw a tantrum then!

Hold it, I think I'm getting warm now. Admittedly the concept is a little difficult because one COULD just simply keep your own mug on your own desk or work area... but who would do that when you could buy a corked mug instead? I know I know! It's an anti-conformative counter-culture artistic statement about the downtrodden lower-class white-collar worker who is so stressed out s/he will spaz over a $2 coffee mug ($1 if you get it at the Buck-an-item store), a wailing against the corporate insensitivity to the needs of the individual-- an iconoclastic nod to the nodless head of the capitalistic uh... socialist uh... corporate (no I said that already). Well it just ART, okay?!?

Boy, sure hope that plug thing doesn't get caught on something as you're raising that steaming hot cuppa.
