WARNING!!! FAT GRIPZ WILL CHANGE YOU!!!
by Ian Reed (5 out of 5 stars)

After a lot of trips to the gym with very little forearm progress I sat down and did some research. Turns out the best way to train your forearms is to increase the diameter of the bar you grip. Fat grips are an inexpensive way to turn your ENTIRE workout into a forearm workout.

WARNING! THE FOLLOWING SIDE AFFECTS MAY OCCUR.

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LIFT AS MUCH.

YOUR FOREARMS WILL BURN.

YOU WILL BARELY BE ABLE TO TYPE FOR WEEKS AT A TIME.

YOU MAY ATTRACT ADDITIONAL ATTENTION FROM THE OPPOSITE SEX WHEN YOU ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVES.

YOUR COWORKERS MAY GET TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT FAT GRIPZ.

YOU WILL NOT GET TIRED OF TALKING ABOUT FAT GRIPZ.

YOU WILL HAVE DIFFICULTY WASHING YOUR HAIR.

YOU WILL HAVE DIFFICULTY GETTING OUT OF YOUR CAR.

YOU WILL HAVE DIFFICULTY CARRYING GROCERIES.

YOU WILL HAVE DIFFICULTY WRITING THIS REVIEW.

Wow, what a work out.
by Aaron G. (5 out of 5 stars)

I have been a weightlifter my entire adult life. I have a 535 lb deadlift (without straps) so I thought I had good grip strength and these things humbled me. I used them one time and immediately went and bought another set for my home gym, now I use them on everything! These things made my grip strength go through the roof! They make everything harder but in a good way. I couldn't recommend these more for anyone who wants to take their workouts to the next level!

The only caveat I have is that they get a little slippery when sweaty, and chalk seems to make it worse. Please use caution and don't do what I did. Which was chalk up then bench with them and have them slip out of your hands. Thank God I was using safeties because all 300+ pounds was coming straight down on my neck if I hadn't been.

It works

So far so good. Since they're pretty thick, they feel very durable and can last a while even when wrapped around dumbbells a little thicker than 1". These are my first grips, so I wanted a proven brand, but I probably could've gone with cheaper ones.

They fit my PowerBlock Sport dumbbells without having to trim them like another reviewer had done, and there's a significant gap since the handle is 1.5" in diameter. Now the grip is 2.5" instead of 2.25", but I can still fit my hands in (I'm only 5'8" and don't have fat hands)

They fit a little tight around the Bowflex SelectTech 552 dumbbells, and there's a similar size gap.

My Fitness Gear Cast Hex dumbbells have 1.1" diameter handles, so the gap is minimal, but they're an even tighter fit than on the SelectTechs because the handles are a bit under 5", so you'll notice the grip wraps a little tapered in a compressed fashion in order to stay on.

I like my SelectTechs, so I'll keep the grips on there. I don't mind starting at 2.5" especially since I'm used on 1.5" on the PowerBlock and SelectTechs instead of 1" in the gym.

Works in a Tesla
by Wayne (5 out of 5 stars)

My use of this product is somewhat unorthodox, but if you have a Tesla, read on. Autopilot needs to sense that your hand is on the wheel. But if you have a light grip as I do, often the car won't sense your hand even when you are holding the wheel. This can make driving a lot easier as long as you use it properly.

This can be placed on the bottom of the wheel, but make sure that it's perfectly centered. Then if you hold the wheel next to it, merely resting your hand on the side of this will put enough pressure on the wheel that the car will know that your hand is there. If you grab the handle itself, the car will also sense it. You could also put it on top, in theory, but I would imagine that if you hold the wheel there, you won't need it.

Make sure that it's perfectly centered. In order to test it out, use Autopilot with your fingers wrapped around the wheel with no pressure and not touching this, so that you can assure that the car is sensing when you aren't holding the wheel. You should get a warning within a few minutes. After that, you can hold the wheel as I recommended.

Make sure that you don't put this on off center, or only on one side of the bottom of the wheel. Doing so will defeat the car's ability to sense that you are holding the steering wheel. You can try one of these on each side, to give you more than one place to grab the wheel, but that could make it harder to get them properly balanced. If you do that, make sure to check that you still get a warning when you aren't putting pressure on the wheel or on these grips.

Want a stronger grip?
by Shaun P. (5 out of 5 stars)

You can feel the difference during, and especially after, the first workout. They say you should drop weight when first starting to use these, I didn't realize how much I would have to drop. I had to drop 20lbs to do a rep without breaking correct form. (Yeah, that was annoying, but was so worthwhile.) Have used these thrice a week for a few months now and they are still in great quality. And now I can do pullups to bicep/back failure instead of grip failure. Also have noticed increased strength in grip strength and forearm growth with rope climbing and long sleeve shirts respectively. When I don't use them I can now row or curl a heavier weight and for a lot more reps.

Not for me
by Amazon Customer (3 out of 5 stars)

I ordered the regular blue size. I'm sure this product is great for some people but for me it wasn't. It caused pain in my wrists when using it. My hands are probably too small too so that must have been an issue. I could barely wrap my hand around them. I would maybe consider giving the smallest size a shot but after experiencing the wrist pain I don't think I will. Other than that they were a pain in the ass to wrap around bars and dumbells each time and then taking them off.

A way to add forearm to almost every workout
by Davis (5 out of 5 stars)
March 8, 2018

So taken them for a spin the first couple of workouts. My friend told

Me he deadlifted with these... maybe he's an animal and I'm not but yeah... i can't dead lift with these unless i want to go down about 75%. They definitely increase the difficulty and i can see them helping my grip/forearms (my main problem area i believe). Don't know if they will live up to the astronomical claims but so far so good. Will edit once I've been using for around 3 months if i see any problems. Looking forward to forearm and grip gains from these bad boys. Product seems quite sturdy and quality even though it's just a chunk of thermoplastic or rubber.

I have gotten great satisfaction out of making my own equipment and salvaging ...
by Gerald McDermott (5 out of 5 stars)

I waited a long time to purchase these. For several years, I have been training in my garage gym. I have gotten great satisfaction out of making my own equipment and salvaging garage sale items. I made an axle bar out of 2 inch pipe and dumbbell handles out of inch and a half pipe, for the purpose of thick grip training. I am even guilty of cutting up an old pool noodle and duct taping it to the pull up bar on my power rack.
About a year ago, I purchased a ceiling mounted multi-grip pull up bar and I use it on a daily basis. One of the things that I thought it was missing, was the option of a fat grip. So, I recently splurged and ordered the "Fat Gripz" to fill that void. They are a perfect fit and a great addition to my training and my forearms are sore as hell !! Oh and if you haven't tried the pool noodle thing...don"t waste your time.

Follow-up on Fat Gripz
by Scott J. (5 out of 5 stars)
August 13, 2014

This is a follow-up review from my purchase of these gems almost a year ago. I'm still amazed at how fast these things can get your arms/forearms pumped. They've improved my grip strength in nearly all of my "pull" exercises to where I don't even consider using lifting straps (except for maybe heavy dead lifts). Now to be fair, they took a little getting used to- I had to drop weight on a few exercises (reverse curls, pull-ups) and my reps went down, at first. I have marveled at how versatile and functional these grips are compared to having purchased a lone fat grip bar ($100 and up!). They accomplish the same thing; adding diameter to any bar you can attach them to. I also attach them to cable handles to perform a multitude of exercises and movements. I would recommend that a person purchase 2 sets- this cuts down on the time it takes to remove them and reposition them on other bars/attachments. Not a really big deal, but it's more convenient especially if you workout at home. I can't say enough about how awesome these grips are for developing grip strength and overall arm size. Now quit reading my review and buy a pair!!!
