Transform your walkway-for a while
by Tom n Smokin (4 out of 5 stars)
October 28, 2015

We ordered the blue led's after reading the reviews to incorporate into an artsy bluestone and brick walkway we are constructing in our backyard. We wanted something cool as a 4x4 paver to fit inside four bricks where we set the bricks in a 90° rotation to make a square. While the entire walkway looks very random during the day, it is transformed at dusk when these beautiful bright blue pavers begin to emerge in perfect diagonals set seven feet apart down the length of the walk! We had to order a few more pavers and we're finishing the walk this weekend. A world famous sculptor asked to see our photos of the walkway (my wife and I were on the art selection committee for the neighborhood park) and he was floored by the look the led's add. He may be ordering some for a future project! Update: Three and a half years later: Nine lights still shine brightly. Six have gone out over the last year and one barely flickers. They all worked wonderfully for over two years, but it's decision time: Do I fork out more to replace the dead and dying ones, or should I go another route? Originally rated this a 5-star product, but dropping to 4 stars due to life expectancy. Added the last photo taken this evening. Like a whirlwind romance, it was good while it lasted!

GOOD LANDSCAPE LIGHTS
by Stewart & Andrea (5 out of 5 stars)
October 11, 2015

I live in Maui so we get plenty of sunlight to charge the batteries so my review won't do any good to people that live in low sunlight areas. I bought 10 of these lights which I installed this week in my driveway to light up/deliniate a short 18" planter wall which runs along the edge of my driveway. They are installed at the base of the wall and shine up the face. They only dimly light up the face of the wall, an area of about 2 feet wide max. But they do create a decent light pattern which will help to see the wall at night. I've included pictures which don't do the lights justice, because the pictures are grainy, but it gives you an idea what they look like at night installed. They batteries last from sun down to sun up. I'm happy with them and have ordered 10 more.

Form over function
by cosmosmariner (3 out of 5 stars)

They're lovely, but curb your expectations if you're counting on anything like longevity. I installed 12 in July 0f 2015. Of those only 8 are functioning now, and a few of these began to fail after barely 1 year. I bought these as a calculated risk, trusting that replacing the NiMH 1.2v battery periodically would restore to like-new condition. Alas, that has not happened with my first effort. After carefully testing and making sure the toggle switch was on, the brick's still dead as a hammer. Am seeing this project as a chronic liability now, so will suck it up, re-order and replace until I can find something sized similarly with better fidelity.

I suppose I want others to know that although they are pretty, my experience is that they are not we

These are little glass blocks, 4" square and very attractive indeed when illuminated at night. The problem is that two of the four that I purchased stopped working quite quickly after purchase - and after the guarantee had expired. Since they were fairly expensive, I suppose I want others to know that although they are pretty, my experience is that they are not well-made and therefore are not reliable. It's purchases like this that make me want to shop with sellers who are willing to really stand behind their products because, well, they believe in the product? For example, when REI sells something, they offer lifetime replacement within reasonable limits of wear and tear. As such, I am a very loyal customer indeed. And almost everything I've ever purchased from REI is good quality and lasts. It's really disappointing that products can be sold that are just flimsy and poorly conceived/constructed. When you buy something, you expect it to work! It's not difficult to understand is it? Anyway... maybe there are other manufacturers who are using better quality components with better outcomes. The idea of a glass block that's solar powered is a cool concept! Given how many people have had the same issue as me, it must add up to a very significant number of failed products - which surely would make the sellers and manufacturers take a look at the product and modify/improve as needed. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend!

Still working great after 3 years. (March of 2018.) Love these solar lights!

I bought these on January 1st of 2015, along with the Moonrays garden path (with stakes) solar lights. These are still functioning great after 3 years, which is longer than any other outdoor solar light I have owned. The Moonrays didn't last very long, but these are still going strong. I set them on the corners of my dock, and on a post next to our backyard gate.

They are relatively heavy, so the wind has never blown them off our dock (we get 40-mph gusts during Florida summer storms). They do not put out much light, but are very useful as landmarks at night. I believe because these are better sealed against moisture is the reason why they are still working after 3 years. I am still waiting to find out when I will need to change out the rechargeable batteries, too.

Beautiful Lights!
by xoraclez (5 out of 5 stars)

Beautiful product.

These look solidly built, hopefully sealed well against the elements. If they last more than a full year, I'll be happy.

Thick, strong glass so more than strong enough to walk on, or even drive a car over.

Instructions recommend spacing at least 6 feet apart (or did I misread 6 inches?), but that's very conservative. I tested them out in my living room before install, and had them an inch apart, and they worked exactly as they should (no interference between them for light sensor).

Installed, they look beautiful. The boss (wife) mentioned they don't stay lit the full night, but honestly, as long as they last past midnight, that's good enough for me since they're in the back yard, not the front of the house. If you need consistent driveway/pathway lighting then you might prefer a wired product instead of solar/battery.

I'll report back after a full winter/spring season how these fare.

UPDATE: Its spring and these units are still going strong! They stay lit until just well midnight. I believe the duration will depend upon how much sunlight they get to recharge so YMMV. Out of 9 units, 1 is going bad, the battery only lasts an hour before it dies.

Stunning Gen2 pavers w/rechargeable batteries now!
by KLM (5 out of 5 stars)
August 21, 2019

I had these installed about 4 years ago, when I redid my driveway, backyard, and walkways. First generation did not have rechargeable batteries and most died after about 3 years. With these, I'm looking forward to being able to replace the batteries. The lights are a brilliant white, very bright to light any pathway. Be sure to place away from security lights that would prevent them from turning on. Installation and re-installation after battery replacement is tricky. You don't want to crack the glass when removing. Paver extractors can do that. You have to come up with a method that works for you. I installed with a heavy-duty wire (that's tucked down the sides) to help me pull them out when I need to recharge the battery. Now I can use a screwdriver to expose m wire on both sides and pull up with pliers.
