Cannot accommodate 45 lb dog

The description states a 60 lb dog can fit in this dog house. Our dogs are 45 lbs and the opening is too small. Good concept but would only work for a smaller dog. He shows his larger dog getting in the dog house on his website buyadoghouse.com but the dog's head is sticking out of the entrance and you never see the dog lie down inside the doghouse.

Great concept, terrible in real life

The concept of this dog house is great, it sounds great on paper. In reality, it is terrible for outdoor use. We tried to install this in Florida, where the heat is extreme and the underground home could help our dog when she wants to be outside. Like anything, however, water flows to the lowest point. Any rain storm and this thing fills up with water from blowing rain. We can't dig it out of the ground anytime it rains... not to mention the bugs love it inside. Great product by engineers, but very terrible execution in real life.

Got this for my giant cave-dwelling spider, Shelob. Plenty of room to lie in wait, for unsuspecting adventurers and ring seekers. She just loves how dark, and dank it is, and is never lonely with many other creatures that despise the light, often slithering, or crawling to accompany her.

Anyone with a dog knows that they like to keep an eye on everything. This unit has zero ability to do that. Also, if you live in an area where there are snakes, reptiles, or large spiders, you're feeding your dog to them. Does your human house go below ground? No... and for those reasons, I'm out.

If you would even consider making a dog live outside in an underground hole. Do the world a favor and don't get a dog. Maybe some inanimate items would be a better choice. Dogs love their masters and would not understand what they did to make you treat them so inhumanely.
