Amazing idea! But NOT mess-free
by DavidW (3 out of 5 stars)

The good:

I'll start by commending this product on it's unique design and innovation. The idea of this product is spot-on and that's why I was so excited when I ordered it. With thinner waffle batter, the batter easily fills the entire iron and can make the perfect waffle! The waffles that we made were delicious!

The bad:

This design definitely does not make for a mess-free experience. Once the batter is poured in and fills the iron, it rises up through the top chamber. Then, when you remove the top chamber/batter reservoir, the uncooked batter drips through the holes in the bottom of the cup all over the machine and countertops. It should have some sort of mechanism to seal off the bottom of the cup once it's removed from the waffle maker, so that when you remove it before opening up the waffle maker, the batter can be easily transferred back to the batter bowl for re-use. Also, the holes that the batter must pass through to get into the waffle iron are not big enough to pass anything but batter, so added ingredients such as chocolate chips and blueberries cannot be included. Lastly, I would have liked to seen a timer of some sort in the form of an indication light or clock to assist in determining how long a waffle should be cooked for.

impractical design.

One of the most terrible designs of a product I have seen in years. While pouring batter in from the top might seem practical, there is a reason that there have been waffle makers out there for decades that haven't changed in design. For starters, the batter has to be just the right consistency for it to drain properly down through the opening. If its too thick it clogs. Secondly, you have to pour just the right amount into the opening, too much and it overflows back into the cup on the top. Not enough and you get a fragment of a waffle. If it does overflow, getting the extra batter out of the cup is impossible. If you take the funnel off all the batter spills all over the place. If you let it sit in there it cooks and clogs up the funnel for the next waffle. I wish I could get my money back but I already through the box away and have used it twice. Once you are finally done dealing with all of this and finish eating your waffles, its a nightmare to clean. Just buy some eggos and enjoy your morning.

Make you batter very thin
by Robert Lewis (3 out of 5 stars)

Great idea but it should come with instructions on consistency of batter. We spend a whole morning figuring out that it has to be as thin as possible and even then doesn't always perform correctly. I would not buy this again unless they changed certain things. The batter gets stuck in the funnel and becomes a mess to clean. If you batter is to thick it stops flowing and cooks where it lands. This makes a mess since it won't flow into the maker and when you lift the lid it goes everywhere.

Excellent waffle maker!

I brushed on some olive oil before the first pour, but not between pours. I had no issues with separation from the cooking surface. I adjusted the water content of the batter until it relatively filled the entire cooking area. Setting a timer for cooking time is very important. The pour sprue disconnected from the waffle perfectly every time.

The pour cup handle could be a little longer. It's difficult to switch hands when it's hot.

I ended up ignoring the enclosed pour cup and poured directly from the mixing bowl.

Removing the uncooked batter from the pour funnel is a bit messy, but comes out with a little pushing.

We lost about a waffle's worth of batter in the pour funnel, so plan accordingly.

I like this waffle maker

I like this waffle maker, interesting idea to have the water vapor spout at the top (rather than on the sides making everything messy). It takes a bit of trial an error to get perfect waffles, here's what I learned:
- the batter needs to be thinner than recommended on waffle box. (e.g, with Krusteaz supreme they recommend for 4-5 waffles 1 1/3 cups of water, I used an extra 1/3 cup)
- pour the batter into each of the four holes so that all four quadrants fill equally using the provided cup (if batter is thick enough so that you can't pour batter into each of the 4 holes, then the batter is too thick). This makes for good looking waffles without holes/incomplete quadrants.
- pour a little less than the recommended volume in the table of the manual, 150 mL worked pretty well 185 mL was too much and the batter would overflow in the cap which requires extra cleaning between waffle pours (this one may take a bit of practice but always err on the low side and refill a little as the batter starts cooking - you'll see it coming up at the top trying to overflow in the cup).
- provided cooking time 3-4 minutes seems correct
- use a thin tip chopstick to lift the waffle off from the cooking plate along the front quadrant line. They come off very easily if you used oil when making the batter.

This waffle maker is bad and you should feel bad
by Laura M Kazmierczak (1 out of 5 stars)

Terrible design. Sounded like a good idea in theory but doesn't work in practice. The batter starts cooking when you pour it and clogs the spout, making it overflow and keeping the batter from filling up the rest of the waffle iron. It may work with VERY thin batter but i want to be able to make fluffy Belgian waffles and this device will not work for that. I tried just opening and pouring batter in without the spout which worked okay but it overcooked one side and the other side was undercooked. So it doesn't even work well when used like a regular waffle iron. Sending back asap to get a real waffle iron.

i simply opened it and poured it in just like any other waffle maker
by Tek Jansen (5 out of 5 stars)

Yes, it can have a pouring problem through the top as others have noted in some reviews. Mine clogged only once, but i suspect the differences in experiences here are related to the batter being used. Also, when it did clog, i simply opened it and poured it in just like any other waffle maker. So I think of the pour on top as just an extra benefit to a standard waffle maker that I use sometimes. Most importantly, my waffles came out perfectly. Evenly crispy on the outside and soft and chewy in the middle.

Despite what everyone says I love this! Not once in my life have I made waffles and I honestly prefer them over pancakes. I seen multiple reviews saying this product was crap and that things are under cooked and so on and so on. Well I call bullshit, it worked perfectly for me given the fact I had no idea wtf I was doing. As I always say, be smarter than your average dummy 😊

Excellent waffle maker

Fun waffle maker. Heats up in about 2 min. I didn't use spray pam. Actually forgot if I needed to.

Poured my batter in... about 3 min later had my first waffle. Yeah it was not perfect. But if u flip it over you get your perfect waffle. For 20 bucks u shouldn't complain. It's for my kid anyways.

Clean up wasn't bad. Making waffles is messy anyways.

Great waffle maker!
by Ingrid Riggs (5 out of 5 stars)

Great waffle maker! I have made waffles for the very first time and can only say it works great. No mess at all. I brushed the waffle plates with vegetable oil before I filled in the mix and the waffle came out perfectly without getting stuck. The waffle maker was totally clean and ready for the next waffle. The waffle mix I made was a little thick and I had to make it a little thinner to pour it into the spout. I only made one waffle and it didn't come out totally perfect. It had a few places where the dough didn't reach the surface of the plates and maybe my dough was still too thick. Next time I will adjust and I am sure it will come out perfect. Overall I am totally happy with my purchase the only thing I would have liked better if the plates would come out to clean. Great buy!
