Looks great but the directions need a little work

For the most part, the directions were fine, but it was less clear when it came to the assembly with the rubber bands. The directions did not specify which size rubber bands to use (there were several sizes and how it fit in the assembly was very vague (especially for the trigger mechanism and the slide). By the time you figure out that the trigger and slide doesn't work properly, you are already 8 steps ahead and impossible to correct after the fact. But in the end it looks pretty cool, even if nothing moves like it supposed to.

A Fun Work Wooden Rifle

I bought this as a fun assembly project to go along with a different wooden kit my fiance would be assembling. I felt like the wooden rifle would be a unique object to set on the shelf when finished, and also something I'd enjoy playing with from time to time.

Assembly took somewhere in the ballpark of 6 hours to complete. I'd never attempted a kit like this before so there was some learning along the way. The kit comes with all the wooden pieces necessary (plus duplicates of many of the smaller components), tooth picks which act as nails, sand paper for smoothing, and wax for lubricating. I also used a razor blade as a whittling knife to cut down stubborn tooth picks that didn't break off cleanly. Additionally, there were maybe 2 or 3 (out of at least 40) of the assembly steps that weren't clear from the provided manual how to accomplish. I found a video of the assembly that cleared things up for all but one of them. The most problematic step in assembly was inserting the mechanism that launches the bullets. The firing force is supplied by 4 rubber bands that are doubled over themselves and are taught even when resting. That much stored energy when trying to put it together was difficult to manage and I ended up breaking one of the pieces trying to get it together. Luckily, it didn't prevent the wooden rifle from working but it was a frustrating step that took an hour on its own. My only other gripe about assembly was not knowing exactly how all the moving parts operated in respect to the finished product. There are pointers during assembly showing which pieces they recommend sanding smooth and lubricating with wax, but I think the wooden rifle could work better if the surrounding pieces were given the same treatment. It's easy to miss which those are until it's too late.

Assembled, the wooden rifle fires the bullets cleanly. I don't think it's gotten stuck once. I can fire the bullets across a room. Not to worry though, they don't come out fast enough to cause any harm outside of shooting someone in the eye. The wooden rifle feels sturdy, I could throw it across the room without causing any harm to rifle.

Overall, quite happy with the purchase.

this was a strait forward model to build. Had to spend a little extra time to get the trigger to work as it should. had to sand/wax some parts quite a bit to run smoothly. this instructions are only so so. But once its built it works great! this is a solid model and wont fall apart. the extra parts are nice. I would buy this again.

Missing pieces!!!

Quality of wood seems great. But I wouldn't know for sure, I never got to put it together because mine came with a pretty important piece already missing. It's part of the trigger, so I can't put anything together. What a huge bummer, product would have been 5 stars otherwise.

I absolutely love this wooden assault rifle shotgun model. I bought it to build with my younger cousin for his birthday. It provided us with an amazing, quality time putting the model together and enjoying it after it was built! A great memory for us both! The quality of the wood used feels very high using authentic wood, and I think it's a really fun model to build and shoot with those who love toy guns and shooting mechanisms. I would definitely recommend this purchase, because having these sets takes me back to my own childhood. I love hobby sets, and this was really fun to build. It is a bonus that it's made of natural materials and involves no messy glue. Eco toys are the way to go, and this model is perfect for those wanting to build their own eco-friendly toy gun. The buying process was also intuitive, and the seller shipped the items lightning fast! I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

Fun to put together, little tricky at times

Got this on a whim because I like the Vector it is modeled after. It was a fun assembly for the most part, though there were a few tricky bits here and there. When I was done, it wouldn't fire and I got pretty frustrated, but after disassembling it again and making a few minor fixes and modifications, I got it together and working great.

One note? Don't even bother contacting the manufacturer. They completely ignored my emails asking for assistance when it wouldn't fire. Just read the directions closely, watch the assembly video on youtube, and take it slow.

Overall, a good puzzle model. Assembly comes with spare pieces, assembled model works neatly (along with "safety"), design looks great.

My one big issue is the stubbornness of having to use toothpicks to lock pieces together. I don't think some of the holes are quite cut big enough for them to go through, and I won't know it until trying to jam one of them in and meeting so much resistance, it snaps--forcing me to use pliers to get the toothpick back out.

They (the toothpicks) stabbed me once--like, actually got into and under the skin--and scraped me twice (a steep enough angle so it didn't stab, but merely grazed the top flesh).

This item is very good, one or two things in the instructions confused me but aside from that it was a blast to build and play with. I would not recommend opening it back up after you assemble it because i did so to add extra rubber bands and now it no longer shoots. it was my fault however, i would reccomend 4 bands instead of the 5 it says for you to do.

My son loved putting this assault rifle gun together & has some other shooting things. Every tiny detail is stunningly realistic. It has a great scope and some toy bullets. I like how guys from Wood Trick care about the environment beucase the toy gun is made of natural plywood, also NO splinters. Such a great toy for the ages!! Would definitely purchase more from them. They got another rifle gun kit but this one seems to be an updated model of toy guns that look real.

OK But Not Sure If Worth The Price

My son saved his own money to buy this. He read all the reviews and didn't see any negative ones that would prevent him from spending sooooooo much money. This gun is supposed to fire the wooden bullets but his did NOT!!! He really really liked putting it together and he likes the looks of it and the quality but was extremely disappointed that it didn't fire the bullets. $68 is a lot to an adult, can you imagine a 15 yr old???
