I purchased these primarily as an accessory for a Halloween costume, to give an exaggerated appearance of height, but have also used them as intended--for exercise & fun. It took only about 10 minutes to become proficient with the stilts (fell down 3 times in the process), and even after a few hours of use they still aren't as stable as my own legs, but I wouldn't expect them to be.

My 11-year-old son loves using the stilts and he actually got the hang of them as fast as I did...and is always asking to use them again. In my estimation, anything that gets him away from the TV/video games and outside is a good thing. He works hard in them, sweats, and falls down a lot, but as a kid, he doesn't seem to mind & keeps using the stilts.

As for me, I've found that the stilts may be a bit too "stiff" for my size. I weight approximately 160 lbs and got the 153-178 lb size. It is VERY difficult to actually hop on the stilts off the ground. I can walk and move well, but the really "springy" effect isn't there. I guess this is o.k. since my primary use for the stilts was just to exercise, but you won't see me doing any flips or jumps over cars with them. Also, the part of the stilt that attaches to your upper shin/calf area must be secure in order to work the stilts properly. However, the strap can be painful after about 30 minutes of use, cutting into my leg and leaving red marks for a time.

All in all, however, these are fun, effective ways to have fun & REALLY get attention. As I mentioned at the beginning of this review, I originally purchased the stilts as a Halloween costume accessory...the costume was a HUGE hit, with kids from all over the neighborhood staring up at me as I went by (I dressed up as General Grievous from Star Wars movies)...many wanted pictures next to me & I was a real rock star. For that alone, this product was worth it!
