I feel like I must be doing something wrong, since the reviews for this thing are largely very good. I've watched the demo video a few times however, and it's still not that great.

You do have to twist when inserting and removing the stem from the center of a cupcake. Otherwise what you grab will fall right out. It's not the smooth "push into cupcake, push plunger to remove center, repeat" I was hoping for. Once I got the twisting motion down, there was some improvement. However, the cores I remove almost always break before I can get the corer out, and a lot falls behind. Maybe I'm just being a perfectionist?

I would buy this again, honestly. It has saved me time when I need to bake 40+ cupcakes. But, I no longer use it as described. Instead, I push the corer's stem into the cupcake with the plunger down. Thus, I'm not removing the center core, just creating a hole by pushing the cake down in a controlled way. The hollow column now in the center of the cupcake has a reinforced bottom (the displaced cake that is now evenly pressed to the bottom of the cupcake), and it's a perfect size for filling. Once you frost, you can't see the hole anyway. This has worked well for me and been a huge time saver.

Like some of the negative reviewers, at first I couldn't get this to work. I let my cupcakes cool then tried again, this time twisting the device in both directions before pulling out. Worked perfectly!

I am a big fan of OXO kitchen gadgets. This cupcake corer is easy to use and comes apart so it's so easy to clean. It cores out a big chunk of cupcake (like in the photo), but you're supposed to cut the top and place it back on the cupcake before icing. Buy it; you won't be disappointed!

Not very effective--squishes the cupcake instead of pulling the inside out

I tried several different methods--twisting, quick, slow, a delicate approach--no matter what, the top of the cupcake got squished down, which changes the overall texture of the cupcake. Using this tool combined with pulling out the inner cake by hand was messy and equally ineffective as I really only got a little bit of cake out, not nearly enough to fill the cupcake. If you've got nothing else, this can work.

So I wanted to love this. The concept is great but it def requires some twisting and angling to get the cake to come out. Not sure I love it. But maybe it just takes practice. Seems well made and like it will hold up.

Quick and clean. This makes uniform wells in the top of my cupcakes for equal amounts of filling in each. Comes apart for easy clean up. You will not regret this purchase.

My goodness I can't say enough about this. It WORKS easily and does a great job without tearing up the cupcakes. I'd recommend this to anyone and you can even have the kids use this because it's fool proof.

It works really great for standard size cupcakes; it's a little harder to clean; I didn't realize the first time I cleaned it that the pieces are actually able to come apart probably for the exact purpose of cleaning. Anyways, it works wonderfully, the holes are not to big or small, and I love filling the cupcake halfway and putting the top back on

Great & Easy to Use!

We used these to core out premade cupcakes to fill with colored frosting for a gender reveal party for our baby. It worked very well, even after re-frosting, people thought we ordered the cupcakes this way from a bakery. Would highly recommend to easily add filling to cupcakes!
