To get started with Steady, order the Liftware Steady Starter Kit, which includes the stabilizing handle and a soup spoon attachment. Additional attachments are sold separately. For limited hand and arm mobility that may be related to conditions like cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, or post-stroke deficits, check out the Liftware Level Starter Kit

Features

  • Steady helps people with hand tremor eat more easily. It automatically stabilizes so the attached utensil shakes 70% less than your hand. Steady is designed to counteract tremors and shaky hands that may be related to conditions like Parkinson's disease or essential tremor.
  • The Liftware Steady Starter Kit includes the stabilizing handle and the soup spoon attachment.
  • The stabilizing handle includes built-in sensors, a computer, and motors that help to sense and counteract hand tremors.
  • The included soup spoon attachment connects to the stabilizing handle to pick up food such as soups, cereals and other liquids. The soup spoon attachment holds about 1 tablespoon (15mL) of liquid.
  • Travel pouch, hand strap and charger included. Other attachments (fork attachment, everyday spoon attachment, spork attachment) sold separately.

HORRIBLE PRODUCT-DO NOT BUY

Absolutely terrible product! I bought this item a year and 2 months ago and the other day it stopped working. Completely. I contacted amazon and the third party seller, but Liftware REFUSED to repair/replace it! This product worked so well at first but then it conked out and now I cant use it at all. For almost $300 Liftware needs to make a better product that lasts more than a year and 2 m months! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT FROM THIS SELLER!

I have an essential tremor and the device was somewhat helpful however, the spoon attachment, under normal use and care, cracked at the collar after only a few uses. It was then too loose of a fit and would not stay on the handle. Liftware replaced it at no charge with another spoon attachment which was not the same shade of white as the handle. I was especilly careful with the replacement but after a short period it also cracked at approximately the same location as the first spoon.

Cannot replace just the main device if damaged.

I love this device. It helped my tremor and ability to eat without spilling my food. My issue is with the company. This is an expensive piece of equipment. A guest, to my horror, put it in a basin of water when I was not paying attention. It is dead. I asked the company to replace just the main mechanism. there reply was a definite NO. I found this unfortunate. I am responsible for the damage to the spoon and I am sure I am not the first customer that had this issue. It would be great of the company to offer just the main piece. I am looking at another company with a similar spoon.

Be aware of short life
by Susan Chamberlin (4 out of 5 stars)

This has been a great help with my essential tremor/eating and it's nice that the price came down. However be aware that none of the three I've purchased so far has lasted much more than two years with normal use. It is frustrating that one cannot purchase just the handle, as I now own 3 chargers, 3 spoons and two forks. It is also frustrating that they have not solved the problem of the plastic "skin" that covers the gap in the handle (and presumably protects the electronics from moisture) pulling away from the edges quite quickly. My handle is never near the sink but I'm assuming that just ambient moisture affects the mechanism.

I am sad I didnt do it sooner
by Peter R (5 out of 5 stars)

I just tried this after sitting on it for a while. I am sad I didnt do it sooner. Eating became less about trying to get a utensil to my mouth 10 or 20 times, and more about consumption.

For me, it was surprisingly emotionally liberating and relaxing. I was (and am) staggered at what an impact it had on me. I understand that everyone has different challenges, but you should check this out if using a fork or spoon is a challenge for you.

As a formerly right handed person who was forced to eat left handed, this was very liberating.

Perfect for someone that shakes.

Bought for my father in law. came on time and perfectly wrapped. Went ahead and pulled it out to charge it up - was half charged already. Will be giving it to him for Christmas, but maybe a few days early so he has a chance to get used to using it before eating in front of people with it. Played with it myself and it works great after fully charged. So happy that this works exactly as decribed.

Handle too short, but works great if can get a good grip on the spoon.
by Sara (3 out of 5 stars)
December 11, 2016

My father has a tremor after a severe stroke. He was right handed, but that side is now paralyzed, so he has to use the spoon with his non-dominate hand and obviously does not have as much dexterity on that side. The short, thick handle is difficult to hold with his left hand. Once he has a good grip, the spoon works great on getting the food to his mouth with less spills. If the handle was longer, we would probably give this 5 stars. He has used the spoon for almost a month.

Did Not Help My Mom with Severe Benign Tremors
by Barbara (2 out of 5 stars)
December 23, 2016

I gave this to my mom who has severe benign tremors in the hope that this would help her eat without dropping food. As a retired nurse, I don't find it unusual to see shaking hands but she is self conscious. The YouTube videos show persons with severe tremors eating well. That was not the case with my mom. Despite holding the spoon in different ways, the food spilled all over the place. Her hand shakes, the spoon shook also to compensate but unable to do so. My mom begged me to return the spoon and ask the inventor to invent something that actually stops the hand from shaking when eating. I requested to return the product and was told I would get full refund if spoon kit was returned intact and clean. I did and had to pay return shipping fee plus insurance as requested. The price of product was refunded once received. The seller was excellent.

The product did not work at all for my mom's tremors so one star is generous. I will give it two stars because the idea is great and the seller was very helpful. Please, keep working at improving this product for folks with more advanced tremors. Thank you.

Great product- terrible service!
by Mdeha (4 out of 5 stars)

Great product - bad service. We purchase this for my mom who has essential tremors. The product works great for her. Hiwever, The spoon clip broke after 5 months. Although it was covered by warranty, it took a full month to get a replacement. So if you depend on this product to eat, my suggestion is to have back up attachments. I also ordered a fork which got lost in shipment for weeks, and couldn't get them to help locate it even though they had tracking information. The fork didn't work as well for my mom as the spoon did. Again - it's been an awesome product for her to use, Which is why the 4 stars. But service is seriously poor overall, and I would only give that 1 star
